Supported Employment

Empowering Employment for Adults with Disabilities

At UCP of Mobile, we believe that everyone—disabled or not—deserves the opportunity to have meaningful, gainful employment.

Unfortunately, people with disabilities continue to face significant barriers in the workforce. In 2021, the national unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities was twice as high as for those without disabilities, despite being a largely untapped yet highly motivated talent pool for businesses.

Our Commitment to Job Seekers

Employment is more than just a paycheck—it fosters pride, self-respect, and a sense of belonging. That’s why our Employment Services Department is committed to helping individuals with disabilities find and maintain competitive jobs while supporting businesses in creating inclusive workplaces.

Our services include:

  • Career Exploration – Helping job seekers explore different roles that match their interests and skills

  • Application & Interview Coaching – Resume writing, job search assistance, and mock interviews

  • Pre-Hire Training – Support for individuals who need additional skills before securing employment

  • One-on-One Support – Personalized assistance, including job coaching, to help individuals learn and maintain a job

  • Ongoing Job Coaching & Support – Continued guidance to ensure long-term success in the workplace

Our Supported Employment program follows Alabama’s MILESTONES system and is funded by the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS). Eligibility is determined by ADRS’s Vocational Rehabilitation Service (VRS). There is no cost to job seekers for participating in our services.

In order to enroll in Supported Employment, contact your local Vocational Rehabilitation Service office and ask to speak with a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor about supported employment.
