Frequently Asked Questions

WHO WILL RECEIVE PROCEEDS FROM RAFFLE? All proceeds will benefit United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile and our programs for children and adults with disabilities in south Alabama.

DO I NEED TO BE 18 TO PURCHASE TICKETS? Yes. You must be 18 years of age or older at the time you purchase tickets. Winners should be prepared to provide identification with proof of age in order to claim raffle prizes.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY TICKET NUMBER(S)? Your ticket number(s) are generated via an automated process upon completion of your order. Once your order has been processed, you will receive an email with a receipt containing a summary of your order and your digital ticket (with ticket number) will be to the email. We will enter a physical ticket corresponding to your ticket number into the drawing.

WHEN AND HOW WILL YOU SELECT THE WINNER? The drawing for the Grand Prize ($10,000) winner will take place live at Callaghan's Irish Social Club and on our Facebook page on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 5 p.m. The drawings for the early bird cash prizes ($500 each) will be streamed live on our Facebook page at 7 p.m. on the following Thursdays: February 22, February 29, March 7 and March 14. A party from outside the UCP of Mobile organization will draw the winning ticket from the 'barrel' containing all entries. 

HOW WILL WINNER RECEIVE THEIR CASH PRIZE? Winner can collect their cash prizes on the next business day following the drawing at our offices in 3058 Dauphin Square Connector in Mobile. If you are not local to Mobile, we can mail a check. 

HOW MANY CHANCES TO WIN ARE BEING SOLD?  The raffle is limited to the first 500 tickets sold.  Each ticket has a 1 in 500 chance of winning the prize; provided that the odds are subject to change dependent upon the total number of tickets sold (if under 500 tickets). 

HOW MANY WINNERS WILL THERE BE?  There will only be 1 (one) winner chosen who will win the $10,000 cash prize. There will be 4 (four) total winners who will each win a $500 cash prize.

HOW MANY CHANCES CAN I BUY?  You may purchase as many chances to win as you choose.

CAN I SPLIT A TICKET WITH FRIENDS?  Yes! A ticket and any potential cash prizes can be split amongst two or more people. However--note that one person from the duo or group will be listed as the ticket "buyer" for the purposes of our raffle.

WHAT IF I WIN AN EARLY BIRD DRAWING--DOES THAT MEAN I'M NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE GRAND PRIZE?  Winners of the early bird drawings will have their name reentered into the ticket 'barrel' for the grand prize drawing of $10,000.

DO I NEED TO LIVE IN A SPECIFIC STATE OR AREA TO BUY A TICKET? No, you can purchase your chance to win from any state or area in the U.S.  

DO I NEED TO BE WATCHING THE FACEBOOK LIVE TO WIN?  No. All winners will be notified via email and/or phone shortly after the drawing. We will also post the winner on the website and our Facebook page shortly after the raffle drawing (if the winner agrees to disclose their identity publicly).

DO I HAVE ANY TAX LIABILITY IF I WIN? Potentially. The taxable value of the prize will be treated as ordinary income to the winner for federal and state income tax purposes, and the winner will be required by law to pay any tax liability incurred in connection with his/her receipt of the prize, if any. If you are a raffle winner, it is important that you determine what federal, state and/or local taxes you must pay and you are encouraged to consult with an accountant or tax preparer to make that determination. UCP of Mobile will issue a 1099 to the winner of the $10,000 grand prize.

By participating in this raffle, the participant agrees that UCP of Mobile has no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind which result from use of the prize or by participation in the contest. All ticket sales are final.
